2024 Year in Review
/Congratulations to all the accomplishments our ACFE chapters made in 2024. Many chapters invested in themselves by updating their websites or attending a chapter leaders training. Some chapters broadened their reach by connecting with nearby organizations and having joint events. We also continue to receive record participation in our Chapter Foundation Challenge. Let’s look back at all we accomplished in 2024 and celebrate how the chapters have impacted the growth of the ACFE. Here are some highlights from the past year.
New Chapters
The ACFE welcomed four international chapters and one U.S.-based chapter in 2024. We now have 201 ACFE chapters worldwide. The new chapters are:
Namibia Chapter #251
Northern Nevada Chapter #252
Haryana Chapter #253
Bangladesh Chapter #254
Gambia Chapter #255
Chapter Awards Winners
At the 35th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference, the South Africa Chapter and Knoxville Chapter were recognized as Chapters of the Year. The Middle Tennessee Chapter was recognized for the Chapter Community Service & Outreach Award. You are welcome to read each chapter’s nomination form to see their accomplishments from the previous year.
Chapter Leaders Meeting
More than 200 chapter leaders attended the Chapter Leaders Meeting held in conjunction with the 35th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference. The meeting took place over two days. Southwest Ohio Chapter President Amanda Malusky Krauss, CFE, and the Pacific Northwest Chapter President Katie Robinson, CFE presented the first block. They covered chapter successes and challenges. Some of the achievements from the previous year include board transitions, record-setting attendance, finding speakers, reforming the chapter, and more. Afterward, the ACFE’s Vice President of Communications Mandy Moody, CFE discussed strategies to market and promote your chapter and reusing content for future social media posts.
The second day’s presentation began with Georgia Area Chapter President Brandi Steinberg, CFE and the UK Chapter President Tim Harvey, CFE. They discussed different types of membership dues options, how to reach student members and more. The final block was given by the Knoxville Chapter President Elizabeth Sherrod, CFE, and the Twin Cities Chapter President, Matt Killam, CFE. They discussed everything event-related. They discussed organizing in-person, virtual and hybrid events, locating speakers, fraudsters and more.
The meeting was recorded and is available in the Chapter Leaders Administration site.
Chapter Leaders Summit
Nearly 40 chapter leaders from around the world traveled to Austin, Texas for a day and a half of chapter leadership training. Attendees had the opportunity to network with other chapter leaders, meet the ACFE leadership and staff, discuss challenges and offer suggestions to those challenges. The training was led by Amanda Malusky Krauss, CFE with our Southwest Ohio Chapter and Katie Robinson, CFE with our Pacific Northwest Chapter.
Attendees were first welcomed by the ACFE President John Gill and Chief Executive Officer John Warren who gave an overview of the ACFE’s membership growth strategy, much of which is supported by the efforts of our chapters. Attendees also heard from the ACFE’s Chief Training Officer Andi McNeal who shared upcoming changes to the CFE Exam. We look forward to offering this important event in 2025.
Chapter Foundation Challenge
ACFE chapters donated $124,050 to the ACFE Foundation in 2024. There were 43 chapters that contributed compared to last year’s record of 37. Thank you to all the ACFE chapters that helped make the 2024 Scholarship Fundraising Challenge so successful and for continuing to support the ACFE Foundation.
ACFE Charity Poker Tournament
The ACFE Las Vegas Chapter organized a Poker Tournament during the 35th Annual ACFE Global Fraud Conference that benefitted the ACFE Foundation. Among the 50 competitors were chapter leaders, conference attendees and even ACFE staff. The tournament helped raise $6,500 for the Foundation.
Other Accomplishments
More than 1,600 organizations from 134 countries signed up to support International Fraud Awareness Week 2024. More than 70 ACFE chapters participated. This is a new record and an increase from 61 chapters that supported Fraud Week in 2023. Each year, ACFE chapters find creative ways to promote Fraud Week to their members and the local community. All chapters that supported Fraud Week were given a short welcome video presented by ACFE’s President John Gill that chapters could play to accompany their events during International Fraud Week.
The Twin Cities Chapter introduced the ACFE’s Chapter Development Manager Joe Broccolo with an event certificate solution called SimpleCert. After an impressive demonstration, we negotiated a discount for ACFE chapters that sign with them. For more information on the product and pricing, please email Aaron Cole with Simple Cert.
The South Africa Chapter continues to hold quarterly meetings with chapter leaders across Africa. These meetings help promote cooperation among the African chapters, improve communication and share resources.
Chapters across Canada organized a virtual chapter leaders meeting. Seven chapter leaders representing four Canadian chapters discussed attracting new board members, using the ACFE member list available to chapter leaders, sharing speakers and reaching out to the other provinces where there is no local chapter.
The Haryana Chapter (India) was recently formed. The chapter leaders have already registered the chapter as a non-profit entity, held webinars and are now focused on increasing their membership.
The Belgium Chapter held a panel discussion with the local ACCA and IIA. It was well attended by members of each organization.
Since becoming much more active, the Central Indiana Chapter has donated generously to the ACFE Foundation and began offering professional scholarships to their local members. These scholarships consist of complimentary CFE Exam Prep Courses and virtual registrations to the ACFE Global Fraud Conference.
The New Jersey Chapter leaders have been busy ensuring their non-profit organization is in good standing and updating their website. They also participated in an event attended by more than 250 attendees representing different banks and law enforcement agencies.
The Houston Area Chapter held its 12th Annual Fraud Conference. The agenda included a one-day virtual event, followed by a two-day in-person event that attendees could sign up for individually. The in-person event had nearly 250 attendees.
The Lebanon Chapter helps the local members by subsidizing part of their ACFE membership dues.
Our Slovakia Chapter attended an event hosted by the local IIA. The chapter was given a few minutes to promote the benefits of joining the ACFE. They were provided with a slide deck to help their presentation.
Many chapters reached anniversary milestones and were given chapter logos celebrating the achievement. If your chapter has an upcoming anniversary, please email Joe Broccolo.
Several chapters worked hard reforming their chapter by locating new members, holding board meetings and creating plans to become active again.
We would like to thank every one of you for supporting ACFE initiatives and volunteering your time to assist ACFE members. You provide an invaluable service to the anti-fraud community around the globe. We look forward to another great year and more accomplishments in 2025.
